Monastery High Dečani, dedicated to Chist Pantocrator, was founded by king Stefan Dečanski in the beginning of XIV century. During the turbulent centuries of its history monastery was one of the largest spiritual, cultural and artistic centers of Serbia. The main church is the largest preserved monument in the Balkans with impressive fresco-painting of late-byzantine style.
